Description

The Tempura Cheesecake is a unique and delightful twist on the classic dessert. It combines the creamy, rich flavors of traditional cheesecake with a light, crispy tempura batter, creating a perfect balance of textures and tastes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole plain cheesecake (pre-made or homemade)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup ice water
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Fresh berries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Slice the cheesecake into even pieces (about 8 slices).
  2. Freeze the slices for at least 2 hours or until solid.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Beat the egg in another bowl and mix it with ice water.
  5. Combine the wet and dry ingredients to make the tempura batter.
  6. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Dip the frozen cheesecake slices into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.
  8. Carefully place the battered slices in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  9. Remove and place on a wire rack to drain excess oil.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately with fresh berries.
